What is AeroPress and what makes it different?
The AeroPress is one of the most versatile coffee brewing tools, loved by travelers and coffee professionals alike. Its lightness, durability, and simplicity have made it an integral part of daily coffee rituals around the world. This device allows you to experiment with grind size, water temperature, and pressure, so everyone can find their perfect taste.
How does AeroPress work?
AeroPress works on the principle of air pressure: water briefly contacts ground coffee beans, and then is gently squeezed through a paper or metal filter. As a result, the drink remains clean, without sediment, but at the same time intense and balanced in taste. This method allows you to obtain a rich body like espresso, but with the purity of filtered coffee.
Coffee grinding and proportions
For best results, we recommend using freshly roasted beans, ground medium-fine. The usual ratio is 15 g of coffee and 220 ml of water, but the charm of the AeroPress lies in its flexibility: you can experiment with the amount, water temperature or extraction time to bring out different flavor nuances.
Why try AeroPress?
- Easy to use and maintain.
- Perfect for travel or the office.
- Allows you to try different coffee profiles.
- Quick preparation time – just a few minutes.
AeroPress also has a global community – there are annual World AeroPress Championship a competition in which participants from all over the world create perfect recipes.
AeroPress coffee making steps step by step
Ingredients needed: 15 g freshly roasted coffee beans, 250 ml filtered water (1:16.7 ratio)
1. Prepare the filter and device

Place a paper filter in the bottom of the device. Fill with hot water (92-96°C) to remove the paper smell and warm up the device. This step ensures a clean taste without any off-flavors. Pour the water out through the bottom of the device.
2. Grind the coffee beans

Weigh and finely grind 15g of fresh coffee beans (0.3-0.5mm grind size). The AeroPress method requires a finer grind than drip coffee, but coarser than espresso:
- The grinding size should resemble fine salt.
- Uniform grinding guarantees optimal extraction speed
- Grind fresh before cooking
3. Add coffee to the chamber

Add the ground coffee to the bottom of the AeroPress chamber. Gently shake to distribute the coffee evenly - this will ensure even extraction and maximum aroma throughout the coffee mass.
4. Start the blooming process

Pour just enough water (about 50 ml) over the coffee at 92-95°C. Stir gently and wait 30 seconds. This „blooming” phase allows the coffee to release CO2 gas and prepare for optimal extraction.
5. Fill with water and wait

Fill the remaining water to the 250 ml mark using circular motions. Stir gently for a count of 10 and wait another 1 minute. Total extraction time is 1 minute 30 seconds.
6. Flip and prepare for pressing

Attach the filter with the lid to the top of the chamber. Carefully turn the entire structure over and place it firmly on a sturdy cup or special container. Make sure the device is stable.
7. Click and enjoy

Slowly and evenly press the plunger down for 20-30 seconds. The movement should be consistent and controlled - pressing too quickly can give a bitter aftertaste and cloudiness. When you hear a hiss, stop - the coffee extraction is complete.
Professional AeroPress Tips
The AeroPress may seem simple at first glance, but its possibilities are vast. With a little experimentation, finding the perfect balance of coffee becomes a fun process. Here are a few tips to help you achieve even better results:
1. Experiment boldly.
The AeroPress gives you complete control over the amount of coffee, water temperature, and extraction time. Try a lower water level for a more intense flavor or a longer press time for a fuller body. Each try reveals a new side of the coffee.
2. Choose quality water.
Water makes up as much as 98% of coffee, so its quality directly determines the taste. Use filtered or spring water, avoid very hard water - it can suppress delicate aromas and create a bitter taste.
3. Maintain temperature accuracy.
The ideal water temperature for brewing AeroPress coffee is 92-96°C. Water that is too hot will draw out the bitterness, and water that is too cool will not activate the coffee’s aromatic oils. If you don’t have a thermometer, waiting 30-40 seconds after boiling the water is a simple but effective way to get it to the right temperature.
4. Don't forget freshness.
Freshness is one of the most important factors in a good cup of coffee. Use freshly ground beans, ideally within a few weeks of roasting. Fresh coffee allows you to get the perfect balance of sweetness, acidity and texture that the AeroPress so delicately delivers.
AeroPress especially brings out the coffee's natural sweetness, fruity tones and smooth aftertaste when using lighter roasted, aromatic beans. If you prefer a fruitier profile, try our Fruity Espresso whether Guatemala, whose taste has notes of berries, citrus and cocoa.
Meanwhile Dominican Republic Origin has a richer, sweeter profile with soft hints of tropical fruit and caramel - a great choice for those looking for a balanced yet characterful cup.
In short, fresh beans and AeroPress are two things that best bring out each other's potential: a simple, clean, and authentic coffee experience.
Result:
By following these principles, you will enjoy a balanced, smooth coffee with bright aromas and no bitterness. Each preparation will become a small discovery - because this is where the charm of the AeroPress lies.
